Research Into My Favourite Colour Used Within Designs
by Roxxie Blackham on Monday, 23 September 2013
I found an extremely useful way of searching through designs on Behance, by using the Pantone Canvas Gallery. This has made researching into designs using this particular colour a whole lot easier!
I love the subtle use of the mint colour used within this product and packaging design. I think that the brown compliments the mint green, and helps to make the products look fresh and "foody". I think they're both great colours to use for a bakery as the mint green is a friendly colour which helps to make the company seem approachable.
I think that these illustrations work really well when put into context. I think that they work best on the skateboards as the style of the illustrations is well suited. The illustrator also added the illustrations to some shoes, but I thought that this looked really cheesy and didn't suit the designs.
I love the use of the colour for this fashion brand, as I feel that mint green is quite an elegant and feminine colour. I'm not that keen on the layout of the paper bags that have been designed for the brand, however I really love the delicate and dainty feel to the logo for the brand, and I think it really compliments the colour choice.
I don't like the choice of colour in this infographic, as I think that they have chosen quite a merky version of the mint green colour, so it looks a bit dirty and doesn't really compliment the colour brown as well as previous designs I have looked at. I also think that the infographic is a bit basic and not very interesting to read or look at.
I'm not really sure what this design was for, as everything was in Portuguese, but I really love the script typography. I think it is really fluid and pretty, and the part that attracts me the most is where the two words join up to create a heart. I think that the colours are complimentary and work really well, and the little illustration of the birds is cute and unique.
I think this CV would look nice in any colour, but the use of the mint colour really attracts my attention (obviously due to it being my favourite colour). I think the CV itself is designed really well, and makes it clear how the designer works and what he/she can do.
I think that the use of the mint colour for this brand is well suited, as it is quite a calm and pharmaceutical colour. This helps sell the company as stress-free, calm and collected. I like how the colour is splashed about and isn't over used, unlike some other designs I've looked at.
I quite like the bits cloud logo design, as it is clear, simple and to the point. I think it would work well with any pastel colour really, but then again blueish colours work well as clouds are formed by condensation and evaporation.
I think this publication uses the mint colour subtly and in an aesthetically pleasing manner. I like the way it isn't over used and has been mainly used for headings and subheadings or furniture around the pages.
I love this personal brand identity for Eliana Dedda. The designs are consistent and complimentary of one another, whilst staying professional and aesthetically pleasing. I like the simplicity of the logo and the general layout of each component that has been designed.
I think this poster works well as it draws your eye across and around the page. I think the colours work well next to one another, and help to give the poster a vintage feel. I really like the choice of typography and style of the overall design.
I really like this branding for Agora coffee shop, because it is clean, simple, concise and elegant. It makes the coffee and waffles you're buying seem desirable and slightly more expensive than standard brands. I also really like the subtle colour choices. The infographics used work really well and are executed to a high standard.
I think the set of posters designed for Nike are clever and witty. I like how each one highlights the word 'RUN', as it imposes a message into your head every time you see one of the posters. This also works well due to the word run being clear to read as the colour white is so bright and obvious against the other duller colours.
I think the branding for Heim Interiors is really friendly, approachable and professional. I think the colour scheme works well and helps to brand the company in a cordial manner. I really love how the 'hi' on the business card has been embossed, rather than just printed onto the paper, and how the designer has thought about packaging all the pages of information clearly and informatively.
